Watford YBC took 1st and 2nd place at the 2009 Raynes Park YBC Diamond Fours tournament last weekend.
Watford Penguins (Beth Hedley, Adam Maxwell, Charlotte Taylor and Austin Taylor) lead the field of 25 teams with a 24 game total of 3888 (Av 162) followed closely by Watford Seals (Matthew Brooks, Laura O’Brien, Lee Glide and Amy Maxwell) in 2nd place with a 24 game total of 3846 (Av 160).
Watford Penguins
All players performed above their tournament averages with personal best achievements by 11 year old Amy Maxwell with her first and second 5 baggers, a new high score of 204 and a 500+ series. 13 year old Adam Maxwell earned his 525 series badge and 7 year old Austin Taylor scored his best tournament game of 198. 14 year old Bethany Hedley was the tournament top scorer with a 6 game total of 1176 (Av 196).
Watford Seals
The unique scratch event comprises teams of 4 players of different ages according to a formula based on age divisions.
Watford YBC’s success at this event shows our strength at all age levels.

Success at South of England Junior Open 2009 Monday, February 2nd 2009

Congratulations to Matthew Brooks, Austin Taylor and Bailey West for winning performances at this year’s South of England Junior Open.
Featuring 900 bowlers playing over 4 weekends at Dunstable’s Go Bowling centre this junior tournament comprises singles, doubles and team events over 9 games.
Matthew Brooks - Junior Singles Champion
Matthew Brooks of Watford YBC won the junior ( under 12) boys scratch singles event with a fantastic 588 series including a high score of 237 in the second game.
Peewee Doubles Champions - Again
Watford YBC’s Austin Taylor and Bailey West retained their Peewee (under 9) boys scratch doubles title for a 2nd year and Austin also won the scratch singles and overall events – a clean sweep for Austin!
Well done to these potential stars of the future!
